What is RC Ductility Designer?

RC Ductility Designer is a software tool for calculating curvature ductility in critical regions of primary seismic structural elements according to Eurocodes. This design approach follows the so-called capacity design rule, where the structural engineer defines specific points in the structure, referred to as plastic hinges, where local ductility conditions must be respected based on the selected ductility class of the concrete structure.  

The software allows you to quickly calculate ductility for a selected structural element with defined reinforcement. You can either modify the section or reinforcement and calculate ductility in a fully automated way, or manually create iterations for yield and ultimate limit states and check the results in these iterations. The final result includes the curvature ductility factor and verification of compliance with all local ductility requirements according to Eurocodes.

Do I need to renew my license?

When a new major version is released, you’ll have the option to upgrade at a discounted rate if desired.

Can I install the software on multiple computers?

Your license allows installation on a single computer per user. If you need to transfer the software to a new computer, you can do so by deactivating it on the current device and activating it on the new one. For additional installations, a separate license will be required. If you have specific needs or questions about multiple installations, please contact our support team.

Is there an option to upgrade to a new version?

What analyses can GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer perform?

GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer is designed to perform essential analyses for assessing and improving the ductility of reinforced concrete (RC) sections in compliance with Eurocode 8. The software performs:

•  Yield Equilibrium of Reinforced Concrete Sections: Evaluates the yield state, helping to understand the initial deformation capacity of RC sections under applied loads.
• Ultimate Equilibrium of Reinforced Concrete Sections: Determines the ultimate state of the RC sections, allowing for assessment of maximum load-bearing capacity before failure.
• Ductility of Reinforced Concrete Sections: Analyzes and ensures compliance with Eurocode 8 requirements, verifying that RC sections have the necessary ductility to withstand seismic forces.

These analyses support engineers in designing RC structures that are both resilient and compliant with modern seismic standards, ensuring safety and performance.

Can I use the software with different Eurocode annexes?

Yes, GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer is fully based on the Eurocode framework. In the current version, the selection in the status bar is limited to the Eurocode choice, while direct selection of national annexes has been simplified. At this stage, only UK and DIN configurations are available as predefined options. All other national requirements can be defined partly through National Parameters in the Options dialog and partly through the Properties Palette in the application window, providing full flexibility to adapt the software to project-specific or country-specific rules. If you need assistance configuring the software for a particular national annex, our support team is available to help.

Does the software support BIM integration?

Yes, GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer fully integrates with Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows through the import and export of IFC files. This integration allows structural elements modeled in BIM environments to be imported for analysis, modified as needed, and re-exported with updated properties, seamlessly connecting the BIM design process with advanced structural analysis. 
To ensure successful import of structural elements from an IFC file, certain attributes must be included in the IFC file. These attributes enable the software to identify and process each element accurately, aligning with the software’s internal properties for advanced calculations. Specifically, these attributes are essential for performing local ductility checks in line with Eurocode 8 seismic design standards. Properly defining these attributes in the IFC file is critical for accurate ductility calculations and compliance with seismic requirements.

Why can’t I add new elements after importing an IFC file?

When you import an IFC file into GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer, the software switches to a mode that restricts adding or copying elements. This ensures that the imported data remains consistent with the original BIM model, preventing unintended modifications. In this mode, you can still modify properties of the imported elements and perform calculations, but adding new elements requires starting a new project or working outside the imported IFC environment. Does the software support custom calculations?

Yes, GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer supports both automatic and manual equilibrium calculations. In addition to the automatic equilibrium calculations, users can perform manual iterations to fine-tune specific parameters, enabling greater control over the analysis process. This flexibility allows engineers to adapt calculations to unique project requirements, ensuring accurate and customized results.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

What is the GRSOFT refund policy?

GRSOFT provides a 14-day cooling-off period for non-activated software purchases. If you have not yet downloaded or activated the software, you may cancel your purchase within 14 days of the purchase date for a full refund. However, once the software is downloaded or activated, the right to cancel is waived, as the software becomes locked to your computer and is non-returnable.

How do I request a refund?

If your software has not been activated and you are within the 14-day cooling-off period, you can request a refund by contacting our support team with your purchase details. Please ensure that the software has not been downloaded or activated, as refunds cannot be processed once activation has occurred.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Since GRSOFT RC Ductility Designer is sold as a one-time purchase with no subscription, there are no recurring payments to cancel. Your license provides permanent access to the current version of the software.

Can I exchange my license for another product?

Licenses are non-exchangeable once issued. Each license is tied to the specific software version and is locked to the computer on which it is activated. If you need to transfer your license to a new computer, you may use the self-service ‘Transfer License’ option, which allows one free transfer per license. Further transfers may incur additional fees, but exchanges for different products are not offered.
